趙延年 1924年生于浙江湖州。1938年考進上海美術專科學校高級藝術科。1939年與同學共組“鐵流漫畫木刻研究會”開始學刻木刻版畫。1949-1951年上海華東畫報社任美術編輯； 1952年—1953年上海人民美術出版社任創(chuàng)作組副組長：1954年—1956年華東美術家協(xié)會、上海美術家協(xié)會任專職畫家,1957年調入浙江美術學院（現(xiàn)為中國美術學院）版畫系，先后任副教授、教授。歷任中國美術家協(xié)會理事、中國版畫家協(xié)會顧問、浙江省美術家協(xié)會顧問、浙江省版畫家協(xié)會名譽會長、浙江省文史研究館名譽館員、杭州市美術家協(xié)會主席、中國美術學院教授等職。1991年獲中國美術家協(xié)會、中國版畫家協(xié)會聯(lián)合頒發(fā)“中國新興版畫杰出貢獻獎”。1992年獲國務院頒發(fā)“文化藝術事業(yè)突出貢獻表彰證書及政府特殊津貼”。2002年獲浙江省文聯(lián)頒發(fā)“浙江省有突出貢獻老文藝家榮譽證書及金質獎章”。2009年獲中華人民共和國文化部、中國文學藝術界聯(lián)合會、中國美術家協(xié)會聯(lián)合頒發(fā)首屆“中國美術獎·終身成就獎”。2010年獲中國文學藝術界聯(lián)合會頒發(fā)“第九屆造型表演藝術成就獎”。
Zhao Yannian （1924） was born in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province. In 1938, he entered the Shanghai Fine Arts Training Institute, where he studied both Western and Chinese art. After graduating from the Department of Fine Arts of the Guangdong Provincial Wartime Art Academy in 1941 he joined the All China Association of Anti-Enemy Woodcut Artists in the same year. In 1950, he began to teach at the Huadong East China branch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou. He lost his post during the Cultural Revolution and resumed his teaching duties in 1972. His innovative use of cutting and printing techniques has influenced several generations of printmaakers in China.
Zhao is professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, member of the council of the Chinese Artists Association, advisor to the Chinese Transfer Makers Association, and honorary director of the Zhejiang Transfer Makers Association.
